Malvertising

Image
Advertising and Mining: Oil and water? Beer and Milk? From clever brains to wicked skulls, from new-age Salons to dark alleys of malvertisers; many have tried to mix these two ingredients for more revenues. The right cocktail has still not come about though. Neither cryptocurrency is egg yolk, nor a digital ad cottage cheese; but somehow these two end up turning into a ‘Cement Mixer’ or ‘Motor Oil’ when shaken together. There has to be some safe spot in this spectrum between a sticky mass and a black mess. Well, a lot of shots have been taken at that. And yet, we are staring blankly at a table that has set the same concoction of confusion again. On one side are announcements of mining services (and banner-ad alternatives) lik ... Dead Mavrodi keeps scamming

Image
A year ago, Sergey Mavrodi had a closed casket funeral. But it seems that even death hadn"t stopped him. This person is so widely-known for his implementation of the Ponzi scheme in Russia back in 90s, that scammers still use his name. They say, we shouldn"t be caught with speaking ill against the dead, but this person is so controversial that "he" is still involving people to "his" dirty financial games. The truth is, modern technologies allow to synthesize voice and create a full-fledged video clip with a virtual character. This is the only reason, why over the past few months, there was a series of video messages been published from a person who looks very similar to Mavrodi. He proposes to invest in projects, promising profits ... Read more about " Dead Mavrodi keeps scamming " on coinatory.com

The Chinese bitcoin mining giant filed an application on September 26, 2018, and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange had six months to review. The inaction of the exchange means that the order has been cancelled. We hope regulatory authorities, media, and the general public can be more inclusive to this young industry. We will restart the listing application work at an appropriate time in the future. Verasity’s VRA token increases 300% because of its Product and Sales Strategy

Image
There are millions of publishers competing with YouTube and Facebook for views. Since most can’t compete, they add the YouTube player on their site and hope for the best. The best is not much. YouTube and Facebook provide a pittance of revenue in exchange for those views and therefore publishers are dying like flies. Simply building a video sharing platform is not a solution because no matter how good the platform, who is going to bother to move off YouTube to watch a bit of content when they have a whole world of content on YouTube. Do any kids under 18 watch anything other than YouTube? Only their favorites like Walking Dead and Game of Thrones if they can’t torrent it. What is a publisher to do in a face off against these mon ... Read more about " Verasity’s VRA token increases 300% because of its Product and Sales Strategy " on coinatory.com

2019: A Happy - and New - Year for crypto-conmen and thieves so far

Image
The bubbly is unmistakably all around as experts and security -industry players take stock of new crypto-threats and malware attacks gaining steam and ground. Count the bottles of champagne popped and you would know. Get up and brush the dust away from last year’s attacks. If 2018 was abuzz with cryptocurrency wallets, Salty Spider malware trapping cryptocurrency users (specially Electrum BTC Wallets), BTC ransomware payment demands and crypto-jacking, 2019 is showing starker and stronger intersections between the orbits of cyber threats and cryptocurrency.  As always, the devil lurks in the fine print. But let us skim through the bigger fonts first. They will jump us through the hoops faster. Strap yourself for words like m ... What is Tether doing now?

Image
The company behind the USDT, in fact, recognizes that it conducts banking operations with partial coverage, and possibly issues money backed up by liquidated or falling assets. Tether again deals with its fraud. Very quietly, without trying to draw attention to this, the company changed part of the text on its website. Instead of stating that each USDT token is supported by dollar reserves in a 1: 1 ratio, a moment that has always been in doubt, because they did not allow for proper testing — now Tether writes on their official website: Every tether is always 100% backed by our reserves, which include traditional currency and cash equivalents and, from time to time, may include other assets and receivables from loans made by T ... Monero: Not THE Earliest Bird, and still getting the worm

Image
Why using open-source and GPU approaches is making Monero a smart second-mover in cryptocurrency forest? The First One gets the Oyster. The Second One gets the Shell. ORPioneers get Arrows. Settlers get the Land. Yes, like everything in life there are two ways to look at anything. Being the first one in any space endows that brave soldier with a quiver of advantages and that much-craved thing called eponymous-brand-weight. Bitcoin is synonymous to cryptocurrency for the average layman. That counts. But it can also mean a lot of arrows on the first person’s body. Bitcoin did not change the way we think about money and speed of transactions. It capsized it. It came as a seismic force that totally, and unrecognizably, upended ... CRYPTO: with Kurt Russell!

Image
A new movie, starring Kurt Russel is coming out soon. What is it about? A young agent is tasked with investigating a tangled web of corruption and fraud in New York. This doesn"t sound like a good plot for the movie about cryptocurrency. Corruption and fraud, in fact, is like a plague for the crypto world, so the movie won"t show cryptocurrency form the shiny point of view. Oh, just watch the trailer: https://youtu.be/kYZut3DWvek As you can see, the "CRYPTO" movie won"t probably be the worst, but it can turn out to be amazingly bad, it has all the ingredients for that. Ingredients First of all, it is the criminal drama-thriller - not the best way to show people all the good things that cryptocurrency can bring to our ... Read more about " CRYPTO: with Kurt Russell! Crypto-fiat criminals of Canada

Image
It seems that cryptocurrencies are still not ready for common daily transactions. The huge problem arises when cryptos are turned into fiat with the help of Bitcoin ATMs that were initially meant for the routine tasks. Calgary (Canada) Police call on residents to assist in finding four men suspected of stealing money from Bitcoin ATMs. All these terminals are serviced by one company. The company is not named in the interests of the investigation. The Calgary Police Department Press Center reported that the criminals committed 112 fraudulent transactions in seven cities - Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Montreal, Calgary and Sherwood Park. 51 transactions were carried out in Calgary, which is why local investigators began ... The Aerum ecosystem, a market-oriented hub

Image
The Aerum ecosystem offers a decentralized hub The Aerum ecosystem is presented to the crypto sector with a platform for the disruption of the sector. In itself, it resembles the increasingly common Hubs. A Hub is a space (virtual or physical) where entrepreneurs come together creating synergies. Their influence is, sometimes, so great that they convert in favor of optimizing the usual model of the sector; see both in its complete remodeling and digital replicas. This creates new paradigms in traditional sectors and opens the door to new sectors due to the great innovation that community work brings. It can be said that it offers a variety of options in most cases. And it can become a turning point for businesses ... Read more about " The Aerum ecosystem, a market-oriented hub " on coinatory.com

Fishing on the skating rink

Image
We know that crypto world is currently going through the winter phase and there are not much thrilling news around. Obviously, when old and experienced fishermen are sitting in the cosy armchairs at some bar in front of the fireplace, they will inevitably get tipsy and start telling the old salty tales about 3-meter tunas that they caught once and how they will catch the 5-meter fish next summer. So did Roger Ver with his fishy version of Bitcoin, during one of the latest episode on Bitcoin.com’s YouTube channel, claiming that: “Anything Bitcoin (BTC) Can Do, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) Can Do Better” Yes, we all agree with that statement because we don"t even want to argue anymore. We"ve seen proofs that bitcoin cash"s network being hig ... Read more about " Fishing on the skating rink " on coinatory.com

Cash: Neither a Cockroach Nor a Mayfly

Image
Is Cash like a Bee then? Fighting the onslaught of digital banking and leaving signs of domino effects for humans? Making sense of the new butterfly called cryptocurrency? Long after governments and industry vendors have urged (sometimes, arm-twisted) users to use digital alternatives for payment; long past the attempts to curb black money, way beyond the skyline of digital ecosystems and a new banking infrastructure, it will stand – a tad confused, a bit hopeful and a lot curious about what happens next – Cash – standing courageously, plus, precariously, on the cliff of a D-day. The D here - is Digital. We don’t need any more numbers to corroborate the heavy push that is coming from all directions via heavy-lifted attempts for elbo ... Blockchain – Not Rock-Paper-Scissors. More Like Snakes-and-Ladders

Image
IBM’s early-mover grip on blockchain may not be so easy to attack; but other enterprise champs like Oracle, Microsoft and Fujitsu are not sitting in the dug-out anymore. Who will clinch the home-run then? Something’s strange about these headlines. IBM together with SAP and Cloud! Oracle mixing DevOps and Blockchain! And the most twisted- almost every dyed-in-the-wool enterprise software player is okay being in the same room as Linux (in the shape of Hyperledger), and not feeling nauseous. Strange bedfellows, you may say. Smart choice of bedsides, we would add. Only Blockchain could finish the new décor of these war-rooms; all the furniture rearranged a bit by Cloud and As-a-Service forces is finally coming together. But make no m ... Warning! Fake Monero called Monero Rings

Image
A project called Monero Rings advertises itself on the sites monero-rings.org and myxrmwallet.com. Monero Rings is positioning itself as an “improved version” of Monero, promising fast transactions, scalability, improved mining and even non-interchangeable tokens. It all sounds great, but the fact that the options that have been promised have emerged from nowhere is suspicious. The fake project was recently revealed by the Guarda wallet company, whose specialists saw that the project code is simply a clone of the Monero code. They also found that one web form sends phrases for recovery to their own site servers, allowing fraudsters to access private keys and steal funds. Four days after the exposure, Monero Rings resources ar ... Read more about " Warning! Fake Monero called Monero Rings " on coinatory.com

Hypochondriacs in a Coal Mine

Image
Paper-cuts are not as serious as snake-bites. We know that. Speaking of security, forks are not as scary as knives. That. We don’t know yet. It was not supposed to happen this way; but then, when does life (and technology) work on suppositions! Humans - genius-clever-brave-rebellious humans - had gathered around the capsule. Some shuffled their feet as the first cut was made. Some cringed and shut their eyes as the needle made its way in and out for a stitch. Some smiled as the body whirred back to life with a new sound. The inimitable and iron-clad creature had just been operated upon. As the surgeons moved out of the room, a few eyes stayed peeled on the creature. Timid and worried, they mumbled to each other. “But wasn’t this sp ... Read more about " Hypochondriacs in a Coal Mine " on coinatory.com
