Hong Kong Kidnappers Arrested After Demanding $660,000 USDT Ransom



Two Hong Kong kidnappers, arrested after demanding a stablecoin ransom, underscore rising concerns over cryptocurrency-related crimes and public safety.



In Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong, a disturbing kidnapping incident occurred where criminals demanded a ransom in cryptocurrency for a three-year-old boy. The child was abducted on July 3 while shopping with his mother.



According to local media, the kidnappers demanded 660,000 USDT from the parents for the boy's release via the messaging app Telegram.



CCTV footage captured the abduction, showing the toddler being taken in broad daylight, his cries stifled with a handkerchief. The Hong Kong Police Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) swiftly initiated a comprehensive investigation. By July 4, the police had rescued the child and apprehended two suspects.
