OpenAI Considers In-House Chip Production Amid Global Shortage



According to rumors OpenAI is considering manufacturing its AI chips due to a global shortage of these specialized components. A recent report from Reuters on October 5th citing sources suggests that OpenAI has even explored the possibility of acquiring a chip manufacturer to support this initiative.



The decision regarding the acquisition is still pending. Internally OpenAI has been exploring alternatives to address the current shortage of chips.



In addition to considering the development of its chips OpenAI is also contemplating strengthening its partnership with NVIDIA, its main chip provider and exploring other suppliers.



During a gathering of AI experts Sam Altman, the founder and CEO of OpenAI expressed concerns about chip shortages hindering the companys progress. This was documented by Raza Habib, CEO of AI enterprise
